We’re NJ Famous—the Best Kind! 301 Collective Featured in New Jersey Monthly

Sometimes you send an email and have no idea where it might lead.

A little while ago, we reached out to New Jersey Monthly to introduce 301 Collective and tell them a little about what we’ve been building here in downtown Jersey City.

As luck would have it, Executive Editor Deborah P. Carter was heading to Jersey City the very next day. On her way to Maxwell Alley, she drove past our shop on First Street. She remembered the email, the store stuck in her mind—and one thing led to another.

Now 301 Collective is featured in the October 2026 issue of New Jersey Monthly.

And yes, we're calling it: We're NJ famous—the best kind!

A Modern Lifestyle With a Vintage Soul

One of the things we loved most about the feature is how well it captures what 301 has become.

When we opened the shop, the idea was never to fit neatly into one category. We wanted a place where you could come in looking for a dress and leave having discovered a piece of vintage jewelry, an amazing gift, something for your kids—or something completely unexpected.

Today, 301 brings together contemporary women's and men's fashion, children's clothing, vintage finds, jewelry, accessories, home and gifts, with pieces sourced locally and from around the world.

There is always something new to discover, and that's exactly how we like it.

More Than a Place to Shop

The article also touches on something that's become incredibly important to us: 301 is as much about community as it is about shopping.

Our little shop has hosted artists, designers, makers and other small businesses for pop-ups, trunk shows, vintage markets, workshops and events. We've sewn, painted, made jewelry, poured candles, hosted artists and found plenty of reasons to gather, shop and make something together.

Watching 301 evolve into a creative space for Jersey City wasn't necessarily something we could have planned when we first opened the doors—but it's become one of our favorite parts of what we do.

There is something surreal about opening a magazine you've read for years and suddenly seeing your shop staring back at you on a full page.

We're incredibly grateful to Deborah and the team at New Jersey Monthly for taking the time to visit 301, learn about what we do and tell our story so thoughtfully.

And we're even more grateful to all of you.

Every person who has walked through our door, brought in a friend, attended a workshop, discovered a vintage treasure, shopped with us online, shared one of our posts or simply told someone, "You have to check out this little store in Jersey City," has helped make 301 what it is.

So maybe we're NJ famous now.

But we're still your little shop on First Street. ♡
